The Lund Retreat is located close to the Okeover Arm Provincial Park and within a short distance to the Desolation Sound Marine Provincial Park, and the Copeland Islands Marine Provincial Park. After rounding Sara Point on the Malaspina Peninsula there is Desolation Sound.

Once in Desolation Sound there are many options to pursue. Enter Malaspina Inlet and explore Okeover Inlet with its oyster farms or continue to Desolation Sound Provincial Marine Park with its many islands and inlets frequented by sailing and motorboats. Don’t forget to visit Tenedos Bay where you can hike to Unwin Lake for a fresh water bath on a hot afternoon.

For the more adventurous ones, continue along Homfray channel to Toba Inlet with its steep slopes, waterfalls and watercolor typical of glacier melt water. Toba Inlet can also be reached via Waddington Channel between East and West Rodonda Island. Before continuing north, explore Pendrell Sound at East Rodonda Island (ecological reserve).Following the steps of captain Vancouver, enter Lewis Channel and visit Secret Cove for fuel or other amenities at the store or bar. Then continue along Lewis Channel and enter Teakerne Arm to visit the waterfall for a shower or to explore Cassel Lake at the Provincial Marine Park. From Teakerne Arm one can return to Desolation Sound or continue to circumnavigate Cortes Island to visit several provincial marine parks at the west side of the island. Eventually one can return to Lund via Baker Passage between the Twin Islands and Hernando Island. Once in the area a visit to Mitlenatch Island Provincial Park is recommended (bird sanctuary).

In Lund, kayaks can be rented at Powell River Sea Kayak (at back of Lund Hotel), or at Terra Centric (upstairs of Nancy’s Bakery). In the surrounding inlets, fishing, ‘shrimping’ or ‘crabbing’ is also quite popular. Locals can tell you where to dig for clams and oysters. Charter boats can be found locally for a day of fishing. Public boat ramps near Lund can be found at the harbor or at Okeover Arm Provincial Park.

For those more interested in land-based adventure, the Upper Sunshine Coast offers some of the best mountain bike trails in the province of British Columbia. One such well-known trail is the Bunster Hills Loop, located between Lund and Powell River. Another option is hiking the Sunshine Coast Trail that ends at Sara Point at the tip of the Malaspina Peninsula. For those more interested in exploration by 4x4, use the dirt road to Sara Point.
For the golfer, the Les Furber designed Myrtle Point Golf Club on the shores of the Malaspina Strait offers a challenging Par 72, 6900-yard course with spectacular views.

For a little change in atmosphere, take a water-taxi ride from Lund harbor to Savary Island, where the white sandy beaches offer the ambience of the tropics in British Columbia's Strait of Georgia. Alternatively, rent a bike to explore the island and meet the local residents.
