Welcome to the Lund Retreat!

Lund is located at British Columbia's Sunshine Coast, at the end of Highway 101. Two brothers from Sweden were the first Europeans to settle in the region, ca. 1889. The brothers, Fred and George Thulin, named the fishing village after the university city of Lund in Sweden.

The Thulin's purchased the town's hotel, charging guest $1.50 for a bottle of the best scotch available. In 1905 the brothers purchased a second hotel in Lund, The Lund Hotel. Unfortunately in 1918 their original hotel was burnt down. The Lund Hotel still stands today.

Lund was once a port for isolated logging operations and the last stop for those heading north. Currently Lund is a lovely small community that is a great staging point for trips to Savary Island, Desolation Sound, Toba Inlet and other spectacular natural sites.

Lund is located at the very end of Highway 101, 16 miles (26 km) north of Powell River on the Sunshine Coast of BC. Lund can reached by scheduled air (Pacific Coastal) and bus (Malaspina Coaches) services between Powell River and Vancouver or by ferry (BC Ferries) from the Little River ferry terminal in Comox on Vancouver Island to Powell River. Lund can also be reached from Vancouver in the south (5-1/2 hours, 104 miles/166 km) by catching a ferry (BC Ferries) from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale and driving from Langdale to Earls Cove on Highway 101 before catching another ferry from Earls Cove to Saltery Bay. Lund is 34 miles (54 km) northwest of Saltery Bay at the end of Highway 101.

The Lund Retreat is a lovely home in the woods above the harbor with views of the water. Located near several marine and provincial parks with some of the most outstanding scenery in Canada. The Lund Retreat is an excellent place to relax and to enjoy hiking in the backcountry and kayaking, sailing or cruising in the many inlets and channels.
